  • Charles L. Vickers was born in Texas, attended the Pratt Institute and worked for a period at the Franklin Mint.
  • The portrait of President Bush is based on an Associated Press photograph of the president at the Republican National Convention.  Vickers chose the image to showcase the “sincerity, honesty and integrity of the man.”
  • The Official 2001 Presidential Inaugural Medal included a certificate of authenticity dated January 5, 2001 and signed by Bill & Kathy DeWitt, Co-Chairs of the Inaugural Committee.
  • The 2001 medal was the first official inaugural medal struck by Medalcraft Mint.
